Herald theme guide

A story-led Shopify theme for single-product and small-catalog stores. Version 1.0.0.

Set up your store

  1. Add products, descriptions, prices, inventory and media in Shopify admin.
  2. Upload the Herald ZIP under Online Store → Themes and open Customize.
  3. Select a product in Featured Product. Replace the Dayform demonstration artwork and copy with your own licensed content.
  4. Set menus, brand name and logo in Header. Choose colors and fonts in Theme settings.
  5. Preview desktop and mobile, test a cart and checkout, then publish when ready.

Build your story

Reorder Story Hero, Proof, Comparison, Guarantee, Photo Wall and FAQ. Use only claims and comparisons that you can substantiate. Add Custom Liquid for optional custom content. Duplicate your theme before editing code.

Products and variants

Main Product and Featured Product support reorderable title, price, description, vendor, purchase controls, text, Custom Liquid and compatible app blocks. Product media, stock and options come from Shopify. The selected variant controls price, availability and its featured image. Configure swatches with Shopify product options. Unit prices and pickup availability appear when configured in Shopify. Gift-card products include optional recipient fields.

Proof and structured content

Proof can use manual ingredient or specification blocks, or a product metafield containing a list of metaobject references. Set the namespace and key in the section. Referenced objects need a heading field and an explanation rich-text field. Manual blocks are used when usable references are unavailable.

Search and collections

Predictive search offers product suggestions. Full search and collections support sorting and Shopify-provided filters. Configure filters and product recommendations through Shopify Search & Discovery. Related and complementary recommendations depend on your catalog and configuration; they may be empty in a new store.

Cart, checkout and apps

Customers can change quantities, remove items, add a note and proceed to Shopify checkout. App blocks are supported in Main Product, Featured Product, Cart and Cart Drawer. Apps are optional and have their own pricing and setup. Herald does not require Starter Pack Suite or any other paid app. Payment methods, taxes, shipping and checkout settings are managed by Shopify.

Common questions

Why is the featured product empty?

Choose an active product published to the Online Store in the Featured Product section.

Why is a variant sold out?

Check inventory and the continue-selling setting for that variant in Shopify admin.

Why do recommendations or filters not appear?

They depend on Shopify catalog data and Search & Discovery settings. An empty recommendation section is hidden.

Can I change the demonstration brand?

Yes. Change the Header brand name, logo, section text and imagery. Dayform is a fictional demonstration, not included merchandise.

How do I update safely?

Duplicate the theme first. Preview the updated copy and check custom code and third-party blocks before publishing.

Support policy

Use the support form for setup questions or theme defects. Include your store URL, theme version, affected page and reproduction steps. We respond within two business days and prioritize critical theme defects. Custom coding and third-party app work are separate services. Never send passwords, access tokens or customer payment information.
